Welcome to The Choi Lab @ Chonnam National University

Prof. Seok-Yong Choi’s lab (Developmental Biology & Drug screening) at the Dept. of Biomedical Sciences, Chonnam National University Medical School is interested in neural development. The model organism we use is the zebrafish, Danio rerio. The zebrafish is a good model organism for vertebrate developmental genetics since their embryos are transparent, development is rapid (early organogeneis is completed 3 days after fertilization), and they lay many eggs at once (200-300 eggs per pair).

Taking advantage of its easiness in carrying out drug screen, we are developing drugs related to respective research topic collaborating with Prof. Jin Hee Ahn at the Department of Chemistry, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).
